Phoenix rising from the flames

I am sad to inform you that some of the bandmates of "Freudian Slip" left the group recently. This is quite sad to me as I deemed this the best lineup my band has had in it's 11 year existence. I have learned a lot from Jay and Bruce and will treasure their advice as long as I'm a musician. We had a lot of great times together as a band, and during gigs.

I must now move forward in aquiring new bandmates. This may take some time, but rest assured, Freudian Slip will rise again soon. If anyone knows of profesionnal musicians (who can sing backup) around the Boston, MA area seeking to join an established cover/original band, please email me. I shall keep you posted every so often about what's going on (as well as any solo acoustic shows that I'll be doing soon). Thanks for your continuing support "FS" brigade!

"Time Flies"
Mood:  suave
Now Playing: Paramore
Hola "FS" brigade! Hope all is well. Can you believe it's been almost 11 years since I put Freudian Slip together? How time flies indeed. Our adventures keep getting better and better w/each passing year. Here's to another 11 years, "FS" style! Our most recent gig at Effin's Last Resort this past Saturday was a HUGE success! We had everyone dancing throught the whole concert (including hearing that the staff thought we were awesome). Makes us feel like we did our job right. Keep your fingers crossed that we can get another booking there real soon. We added some new songs to our repertiore a this gig, like "Sugar We're Going Down" (Fall Out Boy) and "Walk this Way" (Aerosmith). We also put in some songs we haven't done in quite some time, like "She Hates Me" (Puddle of Mudd) and "Basketcase" (Green Day). For those of you who are wondering about originals, we are in the process of writing and recording some w/ Jay's new portable 8 track digital studio. I hope to have some songs up soon. Until next time, "FS" fans......

Back for Good
Now Playing: Robbie Williams "Ego Has Landed"
I apologize for not blogging recently, but some of you know I've had a difficult month between me being sick and the death of my beloved grandfather. I've just started regaining my momentum again with everything in my life. Though it's hard and I think of my grandad daily and miss him so much, I know he'd want me to continue (he loved music very much and I was proud to know he saw the band not long ago at Fado's Irish Pub at Twin River Casino). I just know he's watching over me all the time. It's a one day at a time process and I'm sure I'll get through it.

We did our show at Vegas Lounge last night and let's just say it went very well. They told us we are considered their favourite band!! I was able to book a New Years Eve show there as well. Everyone had a blast and we just rocked it. The whole band was in top form, so kudos to them! We were able to videotape parts of our show (thanks to Bruce's friend Chris for videotaping it for us). We've been getting a lot of requests for people for a video/people who don't live around here that would love to see us perform, so I'm glad we've finally done this for you!  I hope we can get it edited so I can add it to our sites.

I'm in the process of booking other venues for the band and hope to get some news on this quite soon. Until next to "FS" fans.......

"Love Calling Earth"
Now Playing: U2

Greetings "FS" fans. Sorry for the absence of writing the blog, but I've been dealing w/a bad stomach flu which has finally left. Feeling myself again thank God and back in doing what I love the most: music!

Before I rant about what's going on with the band, I'd like to take this time in saying that we hope you keep in your hearts and prayers those countries who were stricken by the recent earthquakes in Haiti and just yesterday Chile. We encourage you to give to the Salvation Army (www.salvationarmy.com) or Red Cross (http://www.redcross.org/). After all, isn't that what we are here for on Earth for, to help fellow man during times of crisis (hence the title of this blog)?

I've just recently added new pictures of the band performing at our last concert: Vegas Lounge in Norwood, MA from January 30, 2010. We were quite thrilled at performing at this venue (as you know, I performed there back in Novemeber for a solo acoustic set to help raise money/goods for the Norwood Food Pantry). Needless to say, the venue really loved us and we have several booking back there for the coming months. Speaking of venues, we possibly have another venue we will be peforming at in downtown Boston either in March/April called Coogan's Irish Pub. I'll keep you posted on this.

For those of you who are wondering about our music video to our original "Do Without You" (which is on our Myspace page to those who want to listen: www.myspace.com/fsband4), we plan on filming sometime in the Spring when the weather gets much warmer and better. Until next time "FS" fans.........

Had A Blast!
Mood:  energetic
Now Playing: Oasis-

Just a quick blog to say thanks to those of you who attended our premiere concert at Vegas Lounge in Norwood, MA this past Saturday. We were grateful to all of you for enjoying our show and we can't wait to return this month sometime. Management really loved it. We tried out some new songs: "Follow You Down (Gin Blossoms)", "Rebel Rebel" (David Bowie) and "All Because of You" (U2). We also performed "Do Without You" (our original) and peeps like it! We just booked another booking there, so head on over to GIGS for more info. We hope to have some photos up of our concert on this site (as well as our Myspace page) soon. We'll keep you informed.
We plan in getting together again in a couple of weeks to work on some more new songs (and hopefully an original or two) like "Sex on Fire" (Kings of Leon) and "Drive My Car" (Beatles). As always, if you have any suggestions/requests for songs to play, let us know! Until next time, "FS" fans.....

Merry Christimas and Happy New Year!
Now Playing: Oasis-"What's The Story (Morning Glory)?" CD

Greetings "FS" fans. My band and I would like to wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy, prosperous New Year. We hope 2010 brings you nothing but joy and good health. 2010 looks good so far for "FS" as we will be performing at a new venue, as well as being the continuing part of the line up at Fados Irish Pub (Twin River Casino). We are also trying to get into Foxwoods Casino, so wish us luck. We hope to have new songs (covers as well as some originals) as well.
My solo acoustic show last night at Pan City Grille (Plainville, MA) went really well. I ended up doing 4 sets and an encore (performing a bunch of songs I haven't done in awhile too). It was a great time and I had a blast (I'll be playing back there again on Saturday, January 9th at 8pm). Many thanks goes to my cousins Dianne and Chuck who drove me there/brought me back. Particularly Chuck, as we had to drive through white out conditions from the heavy snow storm we were driving though to get home.
Freudian Slip's last concert of 2009 will be held the day after Christmas at a new venue called the Fifth Amendment in Worcester, MA and we hope you can attend to show your support for us! Until 2010 "FS" fans..........

Elevation
Mood:  energetic
Now Playing: U2-Live in Chicago DVD

We had a blast night performing at Fados Irish Pub (Twin River Casino) in Lincoln, RI. Though it was inclement weather (thanks to the first snow of the season), some of you came out anyway and saw us. We want to thank you for showing up and enjoying yourself to our songs. Mainly non stop dancing, which made us feel good. We also sang "Happy Birthday" to 3 different fans, which is a record for us! lol Next up, my solo acoustic performance in Plainville this coming Saturday (see our Calendar) at 8pm. Next full concert with the band will be at a new venue called The Fifth Amendment in downtown Worcester, MA on Saturday, December 26th.
I discussed with Jay about perhaps writing some more new songs. Once the holidays roll away, we will start up again. I still have to show the band Jay and I's new song "Light of the Sun" at next band rehearsal and I think you'll like it as well! Until next time, "FS" fans......

A Big Thank You!
Mood:  energetic
Now Playing: Robbie Williams- "Video Killed the Radio Star" CD

A big thank you to those of you who attended the charity concert at the Vegas Lounge in Norwood, MA this past Saturday. So many people showed up with bags of canned goods for the Norwood Food Pantry, as well as cash donation. I found out around 250 familes in the Norwood area depend on this. Please continue in giving to your local food pantries, as  the holiday season is now approaching rapidly, as well as the situation with our economy.
I opened up the concert with a hour long solo acoustic set which seemed to have gotten the crowd pumped. As much as I would have loved to have all of Freudian Slip there, they couldn't make it. I did stuff that I had people sing along too (which I'm sure they did), as well as people dancing. Though it was great hearing the applause, I think the applause should really go out to those who came and gave. Found out before the show that a local paper was there covering the concert. Many thanks goes to my friend Joe Hart and his band the Blue Mangoes for allowing me to share the stage w/them for this great cause.
My band's next big show will be at Fado's Irish Pub (Twin River Casino) on December 5th, so we are certainly looking forward to that, as we are working on new songs for this. Still kind of bummed that we couldn't get a booking there for New Years Eve. We'll just try again next year at this venue, as well as others. Until next time, "FS" fans......

"Music Calling Earth"
Mood:  energetic
Now Playing: U2- "How To Dismantle An Atomic Bomb" (2004)
Looks like we had another busy weekend recently. Paul and I did an acoustic show at the famous Durgin Park in Fanueil Hall Marketplace in Boston, MA Saturday night. We both would say it was one of the best, or if not the best acoustic show we have done in the 8 years we've been doing acoustic shows on the side, as the audience kept requesting us to continue when we were supposed to stop at 12am (basically what I'm saying: 5 encores!!!). Thanks to those of you who attended and made our concert quite memorable.
The band did a rehearsal the next night in RI with great results. We were able to knock off 4 new songs for our upcoming Fados Irsih Pub show at Twin River in December. Should I mention what songs we did, or shall I have you wait? I think I'll make it painful and let you come to our Fado's show to see what songs they are. Trust me, you won't be disapointed!  We also jammed on an original Jay wrote, as well as I writing some lyrics for a song I had in my head. What made it very fun is that we switched instruments on occasion. Both Paul and I jammed on the drums on certain songs, whilst Jay played piano. I then played the piano wihlst we jammed on some Doors and Pink Floyd. I was able to video some 30 second snippets of us jamming on my new mobile phone. Not sure however if it's up to par in putting them up online. lol  I always look forward to our band rehearsals. You never know what's going to transpire! lol Until next time, "FS" fans.........
